MASTER OF SCIENCE (METEOROLOGY):

The M.S. (Meteorology) Program aims to provide students with adequate education in meteorology that will prepare them for scientific carrers in goverment, academic and research institutions. The Program envisions to fill the need for highly qualifiels meteorologists in the country.

The M.S. (Meteorology) degree may be obtained through either the Thesis Option of the Non-Thesis Option.

Thesis Option:

To qualify for the M.S. (Meteorology) degree under the Thesis Option, a stident must (a) complete a minimum of twenty-four (24) units of formal graduate courses consisting of 18 unitss of core courses and at least 6 units of elective or specialization courses (b) maintain a cumulative weighted average grade of "2.0" or better in his graduate courses at the end of each academic year; (c) complete one (1) unit of graduate seminar course; (d) successfully defend a Master's Thesis in a master's examinations; and (e) submit at least six (6) bound and certified copies of the approved Mater's Thesis.

Non-Thesis Option:

Under this option, the student must (a) complete a minimum of thrity-three (33) units of formal graduate courses consisting of eighteen (18) units of core courses and at least fifteen (15) units of electives or specialization courses; (b) maintain cumulative weighted average grade of "2.0" or better in his graduate courses at the end of each academic year; (c) complete one (1) unit of graduate seminar course; (d) pass the preliminary examination; and (e) pass the qualifying examination.

Core Courses:

Meteor 201: Synoptic Meteorology 3 Units
Meteor 202: Synoptic Meteorology 3 Units

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPY (METEOROLOGY):

The Ph.D. (Meteorology) Program aims to provide students with advanced graduate education in meteorology that will prepare them for the top-level scientific carrers in goverments, academic and research institutions. The Program envisions to produce highly qualified meteorlogists capable of pursuing independent research in various fields of specialization in meteorology.

Admission into the Ph.D. (Meteorology) Program requires a Bachelor of Science or an M.S. (Meteorology or Physical Oceanography) degree from a recognized institution of higher learning. Applicants must have strong background in physics and mathematics and must possess a very high degree of intellectual capacity and aptitude for advanced study and research. Other admission requirements are listed in the college of Science.Guidelines for Graduate Programs:

Qualification for the Ph. D. (Meteorology) degree requires the following.
