<title>Day 10</title>
<font size=+1>Today we left Zion around 7 a.m., ate breakfast in Mesquite, NV and arrived at Las Vegas around 11:30 a.m. &nbsp We checked into the Excalibur Hotel and Casino (which is right on the strip!) and hit the pool for some heat-enhanced relaxing (i.e., it was blazing hot at the pool). &nbsp Yes, you guessed it: here continued, our photographic record:<p>

    <TD>A view from our campground at Zion. &nbsp While I enjoy camping, I was glad that we finished camping here and had Vegas and motels to look forward to.</TD>

    <TD>Ha ha ... I couldn't resist, being a tropical meteorologist (he he it seems weird to say that, but I've started research and there's no looking back). &nbsp The correct pronunciation, according to Andy, is to not accent the last syllable (i.e., not "cane" as in cane sugar or a walking cane, but just 'cun' - like rhyming with gun).</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0214.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>I thought the "drinking water" sign was funny ... now we know, the water IS safe to drink in Hurricane.</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0215.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>Yea ... my last new state of the trip! &nbsp Number 11 (which brings my total of "visited states" to 36).</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0216.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>Businesses in Nevada are gaudy, yes, trying to capitalize on the gambling industry.</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0217.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>A view from inside the Excalibur Hotel's buffet. &nbsp The days of ridiculously cheap meals in Vegas are gone; however, for $12.00 we ate shrimp, prime rib, and a host of other delicious foods. &nbsp I was impressed with our purchasing power. &nbsp (sorry about the poor focus of my camera; I still haven't figured out how to work it I guess!)</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0219.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>Vegas at night is stunning. &nbsp I apologize once again for the poor picture quality; I actually remember looking at this one in the viewfinder and thinking, "that one turned out alright." &nbsp It's alright, yes, you get the neat green neon look of MGM Grand, but I wish it were crisper.</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0220.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>Okay this pic stinks, but it's my only shot inside the casinos.</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0221.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>The strip has Paris, NY, and Cairo all within 1/2 mile of one another!</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0222.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>The arcitecture at the Monte Carlo is pretty impressive.</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0223.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>Even the McDonald's is gaudy neon.</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0224.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>A view from the strip.</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0225.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>The Bellagio is probably the newest hotel/casino, and they've made lots of effort to give their guests bang for their buck.</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0226.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>The beginnings of the fountains outside.</TD>
    </TR>

<TR>
    <TD><center><img src="DSCN0227.jpg"></center></TD>
    <TD>Impressive indeed! &nbsp Too bad my camera battery died after this shot; I had many more creative ideas for pictures.</TD>
    </TR>
