Ice accumulation measurements are accurate, but due to poor measuring device (small tape measure) snow accumulation measurements probably have an error of about +-.5”. Measurements were consistent, so the hourly snowfall accumulations are quite accurate. All temperature information came from the Norman mesonet station. If no reading was available, value was extrapolated from nearby stations and is therefore approximate. All observaions and pictures were taken from Norman, Oklahoma (observations taken near intersection of Chautauqua and Imhoff Rd.) and all times are CST. The following set of images was taken from various locations across southwestern Oklahoma on 1/31/10. This part of the state was hit much harder than Norman with some locations receiving up to 1.5" of ice. Tree and power line damage was severe in places, especially along highway 183 between Hobart and Roosevelt, OK.

Severe tree damage about 4 miles south of Roosevelt.

Ice measurements and brief observations from several locations in southwestern Oklahoma:

Location Amount of Ice Observation
Verden .7” of ice
Anadarko .8” of ice I first noticed power lines and a few power poles down just west of town.
Fort Cobb .6” of ice There seemed to be an area of lower ice accumulation extending from Fort Cobb to near Mountain View. Tree and power line damage was not as severe as well.
Mountain View .7” of ice
4 miles west of Gotebo 1.1” of ice Several poles down.
Hobart 1.0” of ice
2N Roosevelt 1.5” of ice The worst area I came across was between Hobart and Roosevelt on Highway 183. Damge to trees and power poles was extensive.
Mountain Park .6” of ice Ice accumulations quickly dropped off south of Roosevelt and only measured .6” at Mountain Park, and even less (about 1/4”) at Snyder.
