Intended Usage

This web app is designed to retrieve archived sounding data (upper air observations, as far as back as 1973 in some cases) and convert the data into a tabular data file (to be used in SHARPpy). Once the retrieval and conversion processes are complete, the file is automatically downloaded to the user's computer, who can then load the sounding data into SHARPpy. NOTE: The download feature may not work in Safari.

For those who have the open-source version of SHARPpy, click the below button to download a Python source file for the retrieval/conversion algorithm used by this web app (the download may not work in Safari).

This web app and Python source file were designed and programmed by David Stang, and the app/file are hosted on the University of Oklahoma's School of Meteorology webspace. This app retrieves archived sounding data from the University of Wyoming and converts it into a format that can be read by SHARPpy. The app is free to use and is primarily intended for educational and research purposes.
