On this day, my chase group and I traveled to southeast Nebraska in hope that our long journey would be rewarded with a tornado sighting. Two traffic tickets later, we intercepted several tornadoes between Hebron and Firth Nebraska from a monster supercell that produced the largest tornado in United States history (2.5 miles in diameter near Hallam, NE). The following are some video captures from this day.

A supercell storm rapidly developed near Hebron shortly after 6:00 p.m.
First lowering of the day near Hebron.
Large tornado near Alexandria, Nebraska.
The same tornado about 10 minutes later.
Beginning of the long track tornado that would eventually impact the Hallam area.
This tornado quickly transitioned into a wedge.
The tornado cyclone grew larger.
This satellite tornado developed near the town of Western.
Soon, the tornado began to assume monstrous proportions.

This tornado would later become violent (F4) and devastate the small town of Hallam, Nebraska. Total path length was 52 miles.

The following images show a rare view of the Hallam tornado about 30 minutes after striking the town and only a few minutes before its dissipation.
