METR 2413
Guidelines For Assignments, Homework and Lab Reports
Schedule
- All work is due on time. No late work will be
accepted. Hey, in the real world, a late forecast is worth nothing.
- Final project due first day of finals May 3 th
at 5:00 PM.
Format
- All assignments that are to be turned in to the
instructors will be neatly typed double space using 12-point font.
- Short answers mean short answers. No waffling!! One to two sentences
should usually suffice.
- All assignments will include a cover page that has
your name, title of assignment (Homework 3; Computer assignment 5) and
date due. Any maps, figures, or returned paper should have your name
neatly written on page.
Plagiarism
Each piece of work to be graded
must be the studentŐs own work, unless appropriate acknowledgement is given.
Each student should be familiar with the OU policy on plagiarism
(http:/www.ou.edu/provost/integrity).
Final Project
- Topics will be distributed in class around spring
break April 17th. You can trade topics amongst yourselves, but
only topics chosen by the instructors will be allowed.
- The student in a random drawing will choose the
project topic in class.
- Each project will be the baseline for a PowerPoint
presentation on the topic that was chosen by the student. Thus, the PowerPoint presentation
will be represent and 15 minute talk and will be approximately 15-20
slides in length.
- The research for the presentation is the
responsibility of the student.
Textbooks, web sites, journals, magazines, etc. are all fair
game. However, make sure your
information is scientifically accurate!
Each presentation should include
the following:
- Introduction Slide
- Body Slides (Information on the topic)
- Conclusion Slide(s)
- References Slide(s)
The presentation should be done in
such a way that the audience "gets the point" of your
presentation/topic without having to read a whole narrative. So, be concise! Use:
- Bullets of important information
- Figures
- Key words or phrases
Remember, all external material
should be referenced (that includes figures!). You are allowed to be creative and innovative. However, be sure to use color schemes
that will work in all environments.
Also, remember, some in your audience may be colorblind or cannot
distinguish certain colors.
