1. For the most part the initialized 250mb winds and the observed winds are the same. There are a couple barbs here and there that are just a little off in either speed or direction, but then again, they are slightly offset, so they are not exactly in the same spot.

2. Yes, there are some differences between the actual winds and the geostrophic winds. The biggest difference is occuring in Central Texas where winds are variable in some places. There also appears to be a little cyclonic motion in that area too.

3. There really aren't any areas where the winds are geostrophic. The winds are cross isobaric because of the Pressure Gradient Force. The winds are crossing the isobars going from areas of high pressure to areas of lower pressure.
