From Norman we took I-44 south through Lawton to Burkburnett, TX, west to Vernon, TX on 240 (lots of dead
turtles on the road) where we could see some clouds up near Altus. We headed up through Altus on 283 as the
southern storm of the two was beginning to produce alot of rain, and stopped at Lake Altus for some
sunset-storm photographs as thunderstorm and tornado warnings were issued north of us in Washita and Custer
county. We followed the southern storm of the two, but didn't see much of the northern one which produced a
small tornado about 0120z. We only saw 2 or 3 well defined and photographable lightning channels, but came
away with a nice view of the inflow tail to the north and the gust front to the west.
