We left Norman at 11:30pm CDT heading to Kingfisher, OK. There were storms to our
NE on the "stationary" front, as well and storms to the far west, as a large squall line was moving eastward.
We stopped off of HW 81 north of Dover and photographed a train passing by (2nd photograph below) as well as some CG channels from the base of the storms to the west. We left that location when the rain reached us and headed south on 81 to try to get out in front of what we thought was a northeastern moving system with a slight southern movement. At this time, with some great CG stokes a few miles ahead of us, we were driving through the core of the storm and about 3-4 miles south of Dover, OK. We pulled off of HW 81 due to the heavy rain and a CG channel hit across the highway from us no more than 50 ft away. The light was pink at the ground and white above it. The sound was a short sizzle and then a pop, or clap... and I could feel the energy hit the left side of my face. My teeth had a buzz to them, and there was a taste in my mouth like when you lick a 9V battery. For the rest of the night and into the next day, the teeth on the upper left side of my mouth were aching. Other Chase Summaries Photographs:
