The second TELEX 2003 balloon launch saw two sucessful launches near Chickasha on I-44 at the rest area, located
next to a McDonalds restaurant. An MCS with many bow echoes had formed in the Texas panhandle and moved into
central Oklahoma during the late night hours of May 15. We deployed just after 1:00am CDT and positioned
ourselves NE of Chickasha before the bow echo and associated storms reached our position. The lightning on
this night was substantial, though not as photogetic as on May 13. After returning to the NOF at NSSL, I
photographed some beautiful lightning, with a radar tower and NSSL vehicle as foreground objects.
