Today we decide to head south into Texas to chase yesterday's cold front.   We leave Norman around 11:30 a.m. and get back home around 12:30 a.m.   Here is our story in pictures:

After leaving Norman (START) around 11 a.m., we headed south on I35.   We stopped at Turner Falls (1) and took pictures of the waterfall there.   From the falls, we headed down to Denton (2) and the library at the University of North Texas.   That's where we ate lunch, too.   From UNT in Denton, we went through Fort Worth and then SW through Granbury (3) (where Kathy Barrett spent her senior year of High School!) and into Stephenville (4) where we stopped at Tarleton St. University and the public library there.   We went on to Dublin (END) where we saw the Dr. Pepper factory pictured below.

On the way home, we started in Dublin (Start) and headed back east to Stephenville (1), Glen Rose (2), Cleburne (3) where we got gas, and then north to Fort Worth (4) and Roanoke (5).   After eating at Chili's in Roanoke, we headed back through Denton (6) and then home to Norman (END) around 12 a.m.

Turner Falls in the Arbuckle Mountains has a neat tourist attraction.   The Arbuckles are about 50 minutes south of Norman on I-35.

We stopped in Denton, TX to visit the University of North Texas's library and to eat lunch.   We went into the stadium and sat on the bleachers to eat our sandwiches.  Rebecca and Mike packed the cooler today, so no smushed sandwiches.   Jim Barrett, we're sure you will recognize the man in the picture, none other than "Mean Joe Green."   UNT is aptly named the Mean Grean Eagles.

While in the library reseaching where the storms might be, the parking security people decided to give us a warm welcome with a $35 parking ticket.   We were in a visitor spot, but (little did we know) you have to have a visitor parking pass to park there.  But we were only humored, so after snapping this photo, we took the ticket over to parking services and Brad got it appealed, no big deal.   For future notice, the lady at the parking services office said visitor's passes are FREE - you just have to stop by and ask for one!

We stopped in Stephenville to look in the library for more weather data, but unfortunately the library here at Tarlton State University was closed.   So we headed down to the public library to look at the radar and satellite.  Before Brad could access the internet, he had to give the librarian his "John Henry" (see the "quotes" page).   After glancing at the radar, we learned that the storms were too far south for us to catch.   The librarian there suggested that we visit the Dr. Pepper Factory in Dublin, 14 miles away.   She said they have nice sandwiches and free samples.

We took the lady's advice and wound up here.  The factory and museum were closed, but we still got some pictures for memories.   We saw a sign that said "Pure Cane Sugar Dr. Pepper" and decided to go for it.   It was the first soda any of us had had in a very long time. So we were wired!

We were starving by now, and needed some food badly.  So on the northern side of Ft. Worth, we stopped in at Chili's to eat.   We found this sign funny.....what do you think?
