The weather program allows for text weather products to be accessed by folks in the SoM. It also has the abiltity to access gempak model data and display results using the EXT#### subcommands. Many of the basic subcommands have been aliased for easier access. This purpose of this exercise is to familarize you with the basic capabilites of the weather program.

  1. Questions: (Short answer)
    From where are US UV index reports issued? (Identifier and Location)?
  2. How many days of WEATHER data are kept online? How does that compare to the GEMAK data?
  3. What will the command from the metlab command line metar okc y- produce?
  4. Under what weather sub-commands would one find the one day, two day and three day convective outlooks issued by the SPC?

 

File Attachment: (weather output)
Output to file (ca8.txt):
- a list of all of the stations in Oklahoma
- a stretch of undecoded metars from Dayton, Ohio from 12 UTC March 1, 2004 through 00 UTC March 3 2004.
- Print your file ca8.txt using a2ps.
