Week 1: (Aug. 26)

Week 2: (Sept. 9)

First class lecture

Presentations from:

Dr. Jeff Kimpel, Director of the National Severe Storms Laboratory was today's guest speaker.

OWL – Oklahoma Weather Lab – Nicole Haglund

Homework: Read Chapter 2 of The Weather Book, do the first homework, and be prepared for a brief quiz over the reading, lecture, and guest speaker on Sept. 16.

Week 3: (Sept. 16)

Second class lecture

Presentations from:

• Dr. Susan Postawko, spoke about meteorology throughout our solar system.

• Homework: Read Chapter 3 of The Weather Book, do the second homework, and be prepared for a brief quiz.

Week 4: (Sept. 23)

Third class lecture

Presentations from:

• Dr. Andy White, spoke about career options in meteorology in the Air Force.

• Homework: Read Chapter 4 of The Weather Book, do the third homework, and be prepared for a brief quiz.

Week 5: (Sept. 30)

Fourth class lecture

Presentations from:

• Dr. John Snow, Dean of the College of Geosciences spoke about his career and career options for students in the School of Meteorology.

• Homework: Read Chapter 5 of The Weather Book, do the fourth homework, and be prepared for a brief quiz.

Week 6: (Oct. 7)

Fifth class lecture

Presentations from:

• Dr. Fred Carr, had a few interesting statements about the future of the National Weather Service. If you missed it, all I can say is that you will never think of big waves the same again.

• Homework: Read Chapter 6 of The Weather Book, do the fifth homework, and be prepared for a brief quiz.

Week 7: (Oct. 14)

Sixth class lecture

Presentations from:

• Dr. Kenneth Crawford, spoke with the class of the development and uses of the Oklahoma Mesonet and the Oklahoma Climatological Survey.

• Homework: Read Chapter 9 of The Weather Book, do the sixth homework, and be prepared for a brief quiz.

Week 8: (Oct. 21)

Seventh class lecture

Presentations from:

• Dr. Fred Carr, did a group advising session for the class, discussion the general course plan to follow for your careers here at the University of Oklahoma.

• Homework: No reading assignment! YIPPY!! However, still do the seventh homework, and be prepared for a brief quiz.

Week 9: (Oct. 28)

Eighth class lecture

• Homework: Read Chapter 10 of The Weather Book, and do the eighth homework.

Week 10: (Nov. 4)

Nineth class lecture

• Dr. Ed Mahoney from Warning Decision Training Branch (WDTB) spoke today.

• Homework: Read Chapter 11 of The Weather Book and to the nineth homework. As always, be prepared for a brief quiz.

Week 11: (Nov. 11)

Tenth class lecture (Almost done!!!)

Presentations from:

• Dr. Joseph Schaefer, Director of the Storm Prediction Center (SPC), spoke to the class about the responsibilities and programs in the Storm Prediction Center and opportunities with this group.

• Homework: Read Chapter 7 of The Weather Book and do the tenth homework. Be prepared for a brief quiz.

Week 12: (Nov. 18)

Eleventh class lecture (Three more to go!!!)

• Dr. Kelvin Droegemeier, Director of the Center for the Analysis and Prediction of Storms (CAPS), will be speaking to the class about the research efforts of this University organizations.

• Homework: Read Chapter 8 of The Weather Book and do the eleventh homework. Be prepared for a brief quiz.
