May 13 – Daily Update

INSTRUMENT STATUS: Everything is working!

WEATHER INFO: It was mostly cloudly today with occasional sun. There were a few rain showers in the late afternoon. Today should be the end of the rainy weather for a few days with Sunday-Tuesday looking much nicer.  Temperatures are expected to increase each day, and by Tuesday are forecasted to be well above average. Starting on Sunday evening the winds are expected to become northerly and are forecasted to remain mostly out of the north for the foreseeable future. Our next chance of rain is on Wednesday as a weak “front” (no real wind shift, just a temperature gradient) moves through the region. With this period of nicer weather we are planning on having a supersonde night on Monday as long as the CU-Boulder test flights on Sunday go well.

PREVIOUS DAY OPS:  Still not much happening due to the rain. Ops will increase in the coming days with the nicer weather. We transferred the lidar spectral data from May 8-13th over to the portable hard drive today. CU-Boulder finished fixing the winch at the Orange site and the 40th tower was being constructed at the time of the daily meeting.

SITE PHOTOS: None today. We were at the site, but took a hike and by the time we came back it was raining.

NEXT DAY OPS: CU-Boulder will be conducting TLS flights tomorrow at both the George and the Orange sites.
