Daily Update – June 2

INSTRUMENT STATUS: All good.

WEATHER INFO: A weak frontal system is still approaching the coast. Today, clear sky and a Tmax of 32 C are expected. SW winds were forecast for a short period late this morning. Low level moisture will increase through the day. Wind will start W and shift NW. There’s a small chance of fog or low stratus overnight. Tomorrow, NW winds are expected in the afternoon. The high will be slightly cooler ~29 C. Mid/high level clouds expected in the afternoon. Fire risk continues to increase through the weekend and there is not precipitation expected. Highs will decrease for a couple days before ramping back up Monday through Wednesday.

PREVIOUS DAY OPS: Supersonde IOP. Balloons were launched to capture the morning transition at 9pm, 3am and 9am. The 3am launch was launched alongside the CU TLS. ND launched additional sondes as well. Two were at the George site (7UTC and 11UTC), one was from the other ridge (~840UTC). There should be a good comparison dataset between the CU 11UTC launch and the regular 11UTC.
